The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department treats a variety of surgical conditions given below:-
Facial Trauma-The Department cares for facial injuries by repairing routine and complex facial skin lacerations (cuts), setting fractured jaw and facial bones, and treating other injuries. Much care is given to oral tissues, jaws, cheeks and eye sockets.
Pathologic Conditions- The Unit manages patients with benign and malignant cysts and tumors of oral and facial regions. Severe infections of the oral cavity, jaws and neck are also treated.
Facial Pain including Temporo Mandibular Joint (TM J) disorders- are diagnosed and treated by skilled Specialists.
Correction of Dentofacial (Bite) Deformities and Birth Defects -The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Unit, usually in conjunction with an Orthodontist, surgically reconstructs and realigns the upper and lower jaws into proper dental and facial relationships to provide improved biting function and facial appearance. Facial deformities by birth are also corrected here surgically.
Removal of Diseased and Impacted teeth, and Anesthesia- Impacted, damaged and non-restorable teeth are removed in our Unit. Safe and effective anesthesia services, including intravenous (IV) sedation and general anesthesia, are given in our Hospital.
Dental Implants- The dental implant is done in collaboration with Restorative Dentists. The Unit also reconstructs bone for implant and modify gingival (gum) tissue surrounding implants when necessary, to make the teeth placed on implants look even more natural.
